Mass spectrometers puriFlash MS chromatography

expression® CMS

High performance compact mass spectrometer

The expression® family of compact mass spectrometers was developed with maximum versatility in mind,
allowing users to switch rapidly between the many different sample introduction – from simple direct probe analysis to ultra-high performance liquid chromatography and prep-scale purification. Compact and user-friendly, they are ideal for the chemist’s bench, giving immediate answers and informed decisions instead of waiting in line at a central analytical service laboratory.
Now every chemist can have a mass spec that works the same hours they do.

Unrivaled utility and flexibility

Most laboratories require the ability to analyze a range of samples using more than one technique for more complete identification and characterization of samples. The expression® CMS integrates with nearly every chemistry technique from the simplest, fastest direct probe analysis requiring no sample preparation to ultra-high performance compound separation with LC integration. The expression® CMS offers the most versatile sample techniques on the market.

Plate Express®

Automated TLC plate reader

Plate Express® is a device that provides a simple, automated means of obtaining mass spectra directly from TLC plates, combined with Advion Interchim Scientific’s expression® Compact Mass Spectrometer (CMS) creating a technique known as TLC/CMS.

Direct mass analysis from TLC plates

Using this technique chemists can quickly and confidently identify products even in complex mixtures without additional sample preparation.

  • Identify spots in <1 minute
  • Avoid the risk of overloading the mass spectrometer – TLC spots contain the ideal amount of sample for mass spectrometry
  • Software controlled – spectra obtained within a few mouse clicks
  • Simplify the process of obtaining spectra – ideal for multi-user labs

ASAP®

Atmospheric Solids Analysis Probe

ASAP-Probe-fond

The expression® Compact Mass Spectrometer (CMS) provides essential information quickly and improves the chemist’s workflow. Modern organic labs have become automated, yet real-time mass assays remain out of reach using conventional LC/MS systems. The direct analysis probe, otherwise known as ASAP® (Atmospheric Solids Analysis Probe) permits chemists affordable and reliable sample analysis of solid and liquid samples such as reaction mixtures, food samples, natural products, and tablets.

Direct mass analysis from solid and liquid samples
  • No sample preparation
  • No chromatography
  • Publication quality data in < 1 minute
  • Affordable sample analysis

Chemists dip the closed end of the capillary into the sample of interest (even complex mixtures) or scrape the surface of a solid, and then place the capillary into the CMS for analysis. Clean-up and analysis is a single step. Involatile buffers and salts remain on the capillary ensuring they do not suppress ionization or interfere with the measurement, while the compounds of interest are identified by the CMS.

iASAP

inert atmospheric solids analysis probe

iASAP-Probe-Cutout

The Atmospheric Solids Analysis Probe (ASAP®) allows chemists to directly analyze liquid and solid samples by mass spectrometer without the need for sample preparation.

Direct mass analysis of air-sensitive samples, catalysts, and organometallics at the bench
The inert ASAP® (iASAP) is a modification of this technique, allowing easy sampling of air-sensitive compounds, such as metal catalysts and organometallics, from reactions that are carried out in a glove box or Schlenk line to prevent oxidation.

The iASAP probe is designed to provide:

    • Mass analysis without sample decomposition
    • Analysis in < 30 seconds
    • Real-time reaction monitoring
    • No sample preparation
    • Atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI)

Touch Express

Open port sampling interface (OPSI)

ASAP-Probe-fond

The Touch Express™ Open Port Sampling Interface (OPSI), is designed for simple sampling of solids, liquids and sample preparation tips and fibers. The novel ambient sampling technique was developed by Gary Van Berkel and Vilmos Kertesz, of Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Direct analysis of solids, liquids, surfaces, and fibers

Paired with the electrospray ion source of the expression® Compact Mass Spectrometer (CMS), the product incorporates a low volume, open port of continuously swept solvent, flowing directly into the electrospray ion source of the mass spectrometer.

Any soluble sample touching the port is analyzed by the CMS in mere seconds. The OPSI source is a unique, prep-free sample technique that offers:

  • Compound ID and impurity detection from almost any surface
  • Direct assays from sample preparation tips and SPME fibers
  • Easy screening applications for drug research, food safety, environmental, forensics
  • Large molecule applications including proteins, peptides, oligonucleotides and polymers

vAPCI Volatile APCI Analysis

for samples in the gas phase

A fast and easy method to measure gases

Volatile Atmospheric Pressure Chemical Ionization (vAPCI) combined with Advion Interchim Scientific®’s expression® Compact Mass Spectrometer (CMS) is a fast and easy method to measure gases such as headspace and breath. The vAPCI provides a sample inlet linked by a heated transfer line to an APCI ion source, where the sample is ionized by corona discharge.

vAPCI enables chemists to:

  • Analyze Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) directly in the gas phase
  • Solvent-free APCI allows a greater range of compounds to be ionized compared to traditional APCI ion sources.
  • Publication quality data in <30 seconds
